Skånegårdar was founded in 1966 by the association movement with the aim of raising the quality of property transfers. The number of farm sales increased sharply in the 1960s and farmers began to move longer distances to a greater extent and the demands for reliability in property transfers increased. Tax issues also came into play to a greater extent and thus the demands on real estate agents. The founders were Föreningsbanken, Landshypotek, Centralföreningarna, Södra Skogsägarna and others.

When the company was at its largest, it had 18 employees and offices in Kristianstad, Hörby, Lund, Ängelholm and Växjö.

The first CEO was accountant Eric Jobring, who after ten successful years took over Skånegårdar under his own private management when the company merged with the newly formed Sverigefastigheter, a subsidiary of Föreningsbanken.

After a few years, Dag Magnusson joined the company and has been the owner of Skånegårdar since 1981. At that time, there were no formal requirements for brokers, but people with higher education were quickly hired, such as agronomists, land managers, lawyers, foresters, etc. It was a new concept at the time that became successful and accepted in the brokerage of land and forests.
